Fall Player Development

08/21/2018 2:14 AM -

This fall Team 91 Carolina will be building on its advanced player curriculum for players on the 2023-U9 squads by utilizing the training facilities at Sports HQ. Sports HQ located in Cary, offers small outdoor training fields that are perfect for individual player development, small group skill work, and 3v3 competitions.

During the training at Sports HQ players will have a chance to focus on positional development, and really fine tune important skills such as shooting, dodging, stick protection, defensive footwork, face-off training, and goalie reaction. By using the space at Sports HQ players will have a chance to get a maximum amount of reps in a minimal amount of time, and then have the chance to use that skill development out at future practices on the full field.

Along with specific positional training player development at Sports HQ will also work on modified box lacrosse techniques as well, using the space for 3v3 competitions and working in “tight space” on the field. This will help improve player’s stick work, hand-eye coordination, and finishing in tight areas. For the defensive players this means an intense focus on footwork, along with communication to work through pick action, and proper defensive positioning.
