Emily Sopko began playing lacrosse when she was 8 years old on the Suffolk County All Stars travel team. She played with that Long Island program throughout middle school and transitioned to the Long Island Express travel team throughout her high school years. She was also a 4-year varsity lacrosse player for the Shoreham Wading River Girls Lacrosse team which won a state championship title in 2012. Coach Emily is a graduate of High Point University where she earned her degree in biology and played for the High Point Club lacrosse team. In college, Coach Emily coached the Women’s Varsity Lacrosse team at Glenn High School in Kernersville, NC during the spring of 2019. Sopko also coached a local all-girls competitive lacrosse travel program the last two seasons before coming over to team 91 Carolina. Currently, Sopko is the Health Science Teacher at Green Level High School and is also the assistant varsity coach for the GLHS Women’s Lacrosse team. She will be coaching alongside her sister-in-law, Samantha Sopko for the 2027 girls’ team.
